Right to Play launches unique charity bike ride

ShareThis

A quick heads up on a charity bike ride taking place next year for a worthy cause. Global sport development charity Right to Play is launching a ride that will see cyclists cover a 300 mile route from Liege in Belgium to the Olympic Stadium in London.

The ride will depart on July 1, the day after the first stage (Prologue) of the Tour de France in Liege and end up in London three days later on July 3.

At the end of the ride on July 3 there will also be a party hosted by Right to Play and Specialized at a venue near the Olympic Stadium. There is also an option for riders to take in the extra challenge of Box Hill in Surrey on July 3 after the ride finishes in London.

To guarantee a place on the ride, a registration fee of £150 is required and a rider must commit to raising £1,000 in sponsorship for Right to Play.

Watch the Tour Prologue

In return for your commitment and money, Right to Play will provide three night’s accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner as well as mechanical support on the ride.

Accommodation includes the Saturday night (June 30) in Liege, which is the day of the Prologue of the Tour de France. Right to Play will offer to chaperone any riders who want to watch the Tour Prologue during the day.

Cav support

Mark Cavendish, who is a brand ambassador for Right To Play, was on hand to reveal details of the charity bike ride yesterday at the Specialized concept store in Covent Garden, London.

Mark has been very vocal in the charity’s work to aid sport development in developing countries and has worked closely with the charity on fundraising efforts over the last three years.

Mark Cavendish said: “I still get excited about the work they do and events they run to fund this work. Right To Play’s 2012 Bike Ride is no exception to this and I was happy to help launch the ride. If you are looking for a challenge in 2012 this ride is for everyone- sign up today to Right To Play’s ride and support this great charity.”
