Join the Sustrans-led Olympic cycling routes ride

If you are about in London tomorrow, why not take in the Sustrans led rides to the Olympic Park. A team of volunteers from the sustainable transport charity will be leading cyclists along paths and canals, through parks, and along quiet streets before cycling on to the elevated greenway which leads to the ViewTube Café - a prime spot for viewing the Olympic Park.
There are three cycle rides taking place tomorrow:
Roding Valley, Chingford to the Olympic Park (13 miles)
Cutty Sark, Greenwich to the Olympic Park (13 miles)
Tottenham Hale to the Olympic Park (5 miles)
Investment
These routes (and five others) have benefited from a £10m improvement package to make them ready for the Olympic Games with the hope that spectators, workers, and maybe even some atheletes will use the routes to travel to and from the Olympic Park site.
Rebecca Davis of Sustrans told us that the routes for the ride tomorrow included a mixture of off-road paths and quiet streets, so they will be ideal for new or nervous cyclists, young people or those who haven’t cycled for some time.
There’s walks as well
Apart from the cycle rides, there will also be two walks to the Olympic Park that Sustrans will also marshall tomorrow. There is a 7-mile walk from Gant’s Hill, Ilford or a 5-mile walk from Angel, Islington.
