Capturing London by bike
ShareThis
Spring has sprung finally this week and there is no better time to be cycling. If you’re out and about and have a camera you may want to enter the London by Bike competition from Barclays.
Barclays are keen to find camera keen cyclists who can capture the adventure, inspiration and beauty of cycling in London, in fact any images that celebrate cycling in London.
This is a photographic competition with a difference, the shots from amateur snappers and professional photographers will be displayed in all Barclays branches across London and the South East.
Anyone can enter whether you’re a seasoned photographer or simply a cycling enthusiast with an eye for a good shot. You don’t have to be a Londoner to enter, so the competition is open to all.
The top two snappers will receive a deluxe London cycling weekend prize package including £1,500 of cycling equipment, a stay at a Five Star hotel stay and a visit to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London. The winning iconic shots will also be displayed at a special exhibition at a London gallery this summer.
Undiscovered London
Photographer Nick Turpin, who spearheaded the street photography movement in the UK, will be a judge on the expert panel that will decide the winning entries.
“I think cycling opens up the city in such a beautiful way, you get to see little pockets of undiscovered London. Barclays ‘London by Bike’ is all about finding a picture that is more than a shot of a bike on the street that will be immortalised as postcards available across London. Entrants should use their camera to really elevate everyday cycling in London into something special.”
To enter, head to www.facebook.com/BarclaysBikes. Complete the form and simply upload your best photograph. Make sure you select whether you are entering the professional or amateur photography category. The competition is open until 4th May 2012.
