Borrow and buy

Want to buy a bike but you’re unsure whether you really like it? One London-based business has come up with an idea of the Bicycle Library which allows you to take a bike away for a couple of days to see if you want to buy it.
A number of bikes are on offer with varying styles from Mens and Ladies coaster bikes, fixed/single speeds, cargo, folding and electric.
Double decker bus
The bikes are housed in an adapted double decker bus that doubles as a library/gallery where you can peruse cycling related reading material or art. The first floor of the bus also boasts a shop with clothing and biking accessories. A librarian is on hand to meet all your needs, answer any questions on the bikes in the library or just pop in for a chat.
Browse to buy
To take a bike away for a couple of days as a borrow a deposit is required. If you then decide the bike fits your needs, the Bicycle Library has a mechanism to allow you to buy that bike from them or the manufacturer. All the bikes are also available to be tested at the Bicycle Library itself with a dedicated, covered test track on hand.
Bus around
Being situated in a bus, the Bicycle Library does move location to location, but a GPS tracking device has been put on the bus so wherever they travel you’ll be able to find them. A map on their website shows their current location. The bus’ permanent location is currently at Netil Market 1 Westgate Street, London E8 3RL.
