AbleChildAfrica 2012 Cycle Challenge

In 2006 I was one of fifteen friends who raised money for AbleChildAfrica (then called the Ugandan Society for Disabled Children) on a London to Paris cycle ride. It wasn’t a big organised ride; just a few mates that got a few other friends involved who wanted to do some cycling and raise funds for an excellent cause.

It was a fantastic trip and I’ve stayed in touch with the charity since. As a result, I was really excited to receive an email from Katy at AbleChildAfrica letting me know about a cycle tour in Kenya and Tanzania that they are organising in early 2012.

500km/6 days

Planning continues but a 500km route has been created that includes cycling to the base of Kilimanjaro (can you cycle up it?), through game parks and on to Nairobi.

Importantly the route will go via two of AbleChildAfrica’s partners Little Rock and ANDY to see the very important work that they do.

2012 Fundraiser

In addition to Little Rock and ANDY the charity supports the work of 3 key partners who are working with disabled children and young people in East and Southern Africa. This ride will be one of their big fund raising activities of 2012 and they would love to hear from you if you are up for the cycling and fundraising challenge!

London to Paris in 2006 was a great challenge and I reckon that Dar es Salaam to Nairobi in 2012 would be even more special.
